VBS.......it counts as exercise lol :)

For real!! We've had a fabulous week at VBS at my church!! I'm teaching first grade with three other lovely ladies and its been a blast!!! However, that being said; I have NOT been on my treadmill all week!!!
BUT......I've gotten my steps in and worked up a sweat with the heat and humidity we've had running all over the church to our stations and I've joined in P.E. time with the kids and played their games/competitions everyday except Monday so far so I've definitely gotten my workout in and I've kept up with my eating very well and taken my vitamins and drank my water and I'm down two more lbs so I'm at a grand total of almost 31lbs deleted now!! So I'm a HAPPY girl!!!  Between the 5:45 morning wake ups and the running and stair climbing and PE and extra kiddos until 5:30ish I've just been too wiped out to get on the treadmill, I know this is a weak excuse, but I'm NOT used to early mornings and VBS prep has been keeping me up until 12-1ish in the a.m. so I've just been exhausted, but managing to keep my pep in my step at VBS for my kiddos and despite the lack of sleep and exhaustion, I have LOVED every minute of it and like I said......weight is still coming off so its exercise, right? LOL

I hope everyone is doing fabulous and staying active, me and the treadmill have a date for Saturday morning!! :)

Until next time,

Journal ramblings from my daily handwritten journal!!

The whole point of blogging for me here is to see what I'm doing right or wrong and how I feel when I let it happen, so as I stated in my last blog, I thought the easiest way to do that more effectively was carry a journal with me at all times and write throughout the day which I would periodically transfer to here to share with my readers and have a "backup" copy of said journaling, so here goes my first full week (I previously posted three days worth, so this is the rest):
6/17/13
Back pain stinks!!! Still going to move around and get soem exercise but not at the intensity I would like, so I must really watch food intake and drink LOTS of H2O to hopefully heal this muscle quicker along with heat compressions (it worked, within two days my back felt so much better!) Also, had an x-ray and u/s today re: said back/hip pain. Results came in shortly after test and all was normal! YAY Praise God (think I may have previously posted this entry lol)

6/18/13
Started with a Luna Bar now if I could motivate myself to get movin' - time for some coffee and a swift kick in the rear end and some treadmill time......(this never happened) (Instead this did) I cut the whole lawn (1/2 acre) by myself, we usually split it and share it, but I did it all with the push mower minus the ditch........so humid had of have sweat off 10lbs.  Did I mention that I HATE (I know this is a strong word) our lawn? Because I do, its awful, but I guess if I had to find a positive in it, it makes for a great workout lol.....eating has been spot on, I've done fab so far, water intake too!! Bed @ 10:30.

6/19/13
Treadmill= 47min. First time in four days so it sucked (sorry, but it did).  I've been exercising, just not the treadmill so I figured it was time!  Off to the Dr., not excited about this appt, but it must be done. Eating = poo! Good breakfast, 2/100 calorie snacks, no lunch.....the bigger deal: NO Coffee!! GASP!!ugh!  Dinner with the hubs and 2 kids that aren't old enough to desert us! Gonna do my best to make it healthy choices!!  Update afterward: some onion petal, not a lot, a healthy nut salad with fat free Italian dressing, and a bowl of award winning chili which was under 300 cals and 8 grams of fat, so not too bad and tea with splenda :)

6/20/13
Started today off lazy, but ate well, stayed under calories and got 5 miles in so all is well. Now I'm ending it lazy w/o writing much - bath and bed

So that's the sum of my handwritten journal, I'm liking it so far and posting it here is nice to see it all laid out neatly before me to recap and see how I did......so I shall continue this format for now :)

Until next time,

Randomness....thought this would be fun :)

So I decided to keep a handwritten journal with just thoughts on what I ate, how I exercised, what we were doing during throughout the day as far as keepin' it movin'.  So I sucked at it for this week because of course its new and I'm trying to get used to it, but I think its going to be so interesting and fun when I get used to it and utilize it :) So even though these first few things aren't so great because I didn't do it well I'm gonna share, that way you guys can see my progress and how this works out for me lol :)

6/14/13
Well, I suck, I didn't even write this day! :) (This is what I wrote on the 15th, I had dated it and then never got back to writing lol)

6/15/13
This is my supplemental diet journal to add to my blog

6/16/13
Happy Father's Day-ate like poo, gained 1lb blah!

6/17/13
Back pain stinks!!! Still going to move around and get some exercise but not at the intensity I would like, so I must really watch food intake and drink LOTS of H2O to hopefully heal this muscle quicker along with heat compressions.

For my exercise yesterday (6/17/13) I did Family Drum class at the Y after my shift with my friend Cassie's little boy Jalen, and it was GREAT!!! I loved it!

Today I am going to try to hit the treadmill again and hope that since my back feels better it stays that way, not going to try to push it any harder than that NO Bob Harper's Boot Camp until I know my back has healed completely, it does feel better though and I got results from my U/S and X-rays and there is nothing wrong with my spine so that's GREAT news!!! Have a lipoma I will have removed in the near future, but otherwise all is well just a pulled muscle.  So time to keep on movin' :)

Until next time,

Boot Camp......ummmm its not for wimps lol

So I finally decided to suck it up and just bite the bullet and GET IT DONE, I woke up this a.m. and before breakfast I got dressed, laced up my bright pink tennis shoes, took a deep breath, pushed the negative thoughts to the side..........then came the real challenge:

Figuring out the remotes and how to make my DVD work!!!!

Just kidding!! :) That really did take me a minute or two, but then I got to the REAL stuff, Bob Harper's Biggest Loser Boot Camp workout Warm up, Level 1, and Cool Down!!! It was intense, I had to take a breather once, but I stuck with it and DID it!!! Then to prove to myself I could still stick to my cardio I've been doing (power walking) I hopped straight onto the treadmill (I actually just accidentally typed dreadmill, but I fixed it......but, it is so that some days too lol so it could have worked) without even thinking about it for 35 more minutes!!! I was WHOOPED doing it before breakfast so I now have mixed emotions about working out first thing in the morning with no breakfast!!  I LOVED working out early, feels GREAT, but the no breakfast part made me feel like I could barely push myself to do what I know would have been easier with at least a light breakfast behind me!!!

So now the next leg of the journey begins!! If you push too hard to fast, you have no where to go, I learned that the hard way (at least when you have as much to lose as I do).  That's not to say don't push yourself, but know your limits.  So I've been doing strictly cardio with some light arm and core exercises thrown in from time to time, but I'm stepping it up to strength training AND still doing my power walking!! This should be FUN LOL :) I'm truly excited about it, that's not sarcasm LOL I promise......ok well maybe just a little!!! But in all seriousness I am excited about the progress I've made and I know its time to expand what I'm doing to see the progress continue.........so.......HERE WE GO!!!! :)

I'll blog again next week as usual on Tuesday or Thursday or maybe both to give an update!! This is an "off day" but since I did something new, why not change it up, right?

Have a blessed day everyone

And until next time,
Healthy Me :)

New Goals

So, I'm now at the 25lb mark which is good, and its still pretty steady coming off, but I feel like there's been a slight slow down and I still have too much to go to be hitting a slow down or plateau right now, that's a few pounds off, quite a few to be honest, but I think I have it figured out, actually, I know I do......
My.
Eating.
Habits.
are.
ATROCIOUS!!!

1.  I don't eat enough on most days
2.  We have a horrible habit of skipping breakfast
3.  A lot of days I realize I'm starving and haven't had dinner at as late as 9 pm and while I try to keep it pretty light, that's late to be eating and then pretty much go straight to bed!!

So to remedy this, I think I am going to start planning out my meals for the day either as soon as I wake up or even more ideally the night before, before I go to bed!!  I won't beat myself up for substitutes while getting used to this, as long as the substitutes are just as healthy as the original plan, my main goal in doing this is to eat as on time as possible to eat ALL my meals and eat them at fairly normal times with a couple of healthy snacks thrown in!! I think this will help speed my sluggish metabolism back up some!!!!

THIS is NOT a complainy complainerton type blog either, I am NOT complaining, I am HAPPY with my loss, I just know that I need to work on these areas as part of my lifestyle change to not only continue to get the weight off, but to maintain it lifelong once I get to to my goal weight.  My journey isn't over there, this is something I'll always have to work at to maintain, but if its a true lifestyle change, it won't really be "work" but just the way it is, which is so important to lifelong success!!! Those old ways have to be GONE, can't let them EVER creep back in!! :)

I hope everyone is doing well and deleting those lbs with me!!!

Until next time,
Healthy Me :)

Biggest Loser Team Get Up Get Movin' ROCKS!!!

So I know I've mentioned on my Facebook page a time or two (or dozen) how much I LOVE the Biggest Loser website and being on a team and how motivating it is being in a challenge, but now I'm going to brag about it here!!!!  We are Rockin' it OVER 40 lbs lost as a team and we are only on week four!! My team is AMAZING!!! We are just a little behind in percentage points but ahead a bit on lbs lost!!! The point for me was accountability and motivation, not necessarily winning!! Yes, winning is nice, but if we are dropping LBs left and right, aren't we really winning anyway?!!!
Logo I made for the team with our team name :)

I just needed to give the members of Get Up Get Movin' a shout out and let them know I LOVE our team and I hope they are finding more motivation through the team for this process!! It can be tough so the support and encouragement is so important!!!!  But we are seeing the benefits of the hard work through these weigh ins and challenges!!!! When this one is over, we'll do another and just keep on getting it done!!!!

Still kind of staying in this little two lb range, but I did less moving than I've been doing over the weekend because it was just TOO HOT, but I'm back to my routine, so hopefully I get that scale moving again along with all my incredible teammates :)

Love you guys!!!!! GO TEAM GET UP GET MOVIN'

Until next post,
Love, Healthy Me
